Description

Mégevette occupies the top of the Risse valley. The capital is at an altitude of 880m.
Its territory extends to the west on the eastern slopes of the Hirmentaz mountain (1,607 m) and the Pointe de Miribel (1,581 m) and to the east on the western slope of the Tête des Follys (1 768 m) and Pointe des Jottis (1,548 m) which appear as the foothills of Roc d'Enfer. Consequently, its altitude varies between 850 and 1768 meters but the inhabited hamlets are not located above 1100m. Mégevette, which was once called Mégevole, is a mountain village whose many hamlets are scattered on the slopes of a widely widened basin. Mégevette is a diminutive of Megève, which comes from the Latin "media aquarum" and which can be translated by water environments.
