Megevette

10

Mégevette lies at the top of the Risse valley.

The village lies between the Hirmentaz mountain (1,607 m), the Pointe de Miribel (1,581 m), the Tête des Follys (1,768 m) and the Pointe des Jottis (1,548 m), which form the foothills of the Roc d'Enfer. As a result, its altitude varies between 850 and 1,768 meters, but the inhabited hamlets are no higher than 1,100m. Mégevette, formerly known as Mégevole, is a mountain village whose numerous hamlets are scattered across the slopes of a widely splayed basin. Mégevette is a diminutive of Megève, which comes from the Latin "média aquarum" and can be translated as "water environment".
